Pound Cake French Toast

French toast made with pound cake- the ultimate in rich and decadent breakfasts! Serve with fruit or syrup.

Ingredients

  • 1 vanilla pound cake , cut into 1-2 inch slices
  • 2 eggs , lightly beaten
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • maple syrup
  • whipped cream
  • fresh fruit

Directions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together eggs, cinnamon and milk. Set aside until ready to cook.
  2. In a large nonstick skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of butter until melted.
  3. Right when it melts, dredge pound cake slices in egg mixture and add to the pan. You might have to work in batches and only do 2-3 slices at a time.
  4. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side or until egg batter turns yellow and lightly browned.
  5. Remove and keep warm until you are finished with the rest.
  6. To plate, top with maple syrup, fresh fruit and whipped cream. Or other desired toppings.
