Ingredients
- 1-1/2 cups half-and-half cream or 2% milk
- 3 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon grated orange zest
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 8 slices day-old challah bread (1 inch thick)
- optional toppings: butter, maple syrup, fresh berries, whipped cream and confectioners' sugar
Directions
- In a shallow dish, whisk together the first 8 ingredients. Preheat a greased griddle over medium heat.
- Dip bread into egg mixture, letting it soak 5 seconds on each side. Cook on griddle until golden brown on both sides. Serve with toppings as desired.
